Biography
I was born in Michigan, in the middle of nowhere and grew up surrounded by my redneck family. As a child, I wanted to become an astronomer until I learned that I’m not made for physics. When I was 6, I moved to Switzerland where I learned French. At 14, I moved to Oakville, a city near Toronto, and lived there until I graduated high school. Since then, I have lived in Québec City and have been studying biochemistry at Université Laval.
Research interests
Ever since my first internship, I’ve been interested in genome editing. For my masters, I will be using my knowledge in this field to explore how fungal pathogens evolve to resist antifungal treatments. To help answer this question, I will study the evolution of resistance to flucytosine directly in a fungal pathogen.
