Biography
I was born in Blainville, where I lived until I finished a DEC in natural sciences at Collège Lionel-Groulx (2017-2019). After that, I left for Rimouski, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology (2019-2022) at Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR). During that time, my interest in genetics and evolution started to grow, and I had the opportunity to start working on polyploidy under the supervision of France Dufresne. Also interested in science communication, I did an internship at Monteverde Butterfly Garden (2022) to learn how to be more efficient at communicating science to people of all backgrounds. For my master’s degree (starting in 2023), I joined Christian Landry’s lab at Université Laval, where I will be working on gene duplication using yeast as a model.
Research interests
I am interested in the evolution of gene duplication and the mechanisms that can lead to the retention of these duplicates. I am especially interested in dosage effect and how modifications in gene expression can affect fitness.
